It is the first Saturday of the month and that means I shall be hosting From the Roots on WMMT-FM 88.7, community radio from The Appalshop, from 11 AM until 2 PM Eastern Time. Listen live on line at www.wmmtfm.org. We shall enjoy two hours of the hottest new old-time music from Foghorn Stringband, Stray Birds, Craver,
Hicks, Watson & Newberry, Honey Dew Drops, Cahalen
Morrison & Eli West, and more. The Noon hour will enter into a deep exploration of the string band music of the southeastern Piedmont cotton mill towns of the 1920s and 1930s.
