Cantari/Voices on The ArtSpot on WCHL-FM for May 25-26

The ArtSpot on WCHL-FM 97.9 airs this weekend at 11:30 AM Sat and Sun with Dr. Sue Klausmeyer and Esther Campi of the Chapel Hill vocal groups Voices and Cantari talking to Art Menius about their upcoming Beatles-themed shows on June 1st, at UNC’s Memorial Hall, and June 9th, at the ArtsCenter.

Mike Craver on The ArtSpot on WCHL-FM for May 18-19

The ArtSpot on WCHL-FM 97.9 airs this weekend at 11:30 AM and 7:30 PM Sat and Sun with Mike Craver. Craver, the former Red Clay Rambler who now plays with Craver, Watson, Hicks, and Newberry, talks about and plays cuts from his new CD Moonshine and Bosh, compiled from music he composed for four musical plays.

Lazy Farm Boy hosts From the Roots on WMMT Sat May 11

From the Roots with the Lazy Farm Boy has moved to the second Saturday each month on WMMT-FM 88.7  from 11 AM until 2 PM Eastern. For May 11, 2013, we have three hours filled with the latest in roots music including new releases from Alice Gerrard, the Giddens Sisters, Lauren Sheehan, South Carolina Broadcasters, and Mike Craver, an interview with Maya de Vitry of the Stray Birds, and lots more.

We shall post the playlist here and on FolkDJ-L after the show airs.

WCHL-FM 97.9 The ArtSpot Airs at 4 PM on May 11-12

The ArtSpot on WCHL-FM 97.9 normally airs at 11:30 AM and 9:30 PM Sat and Sun, but this weekend it airs at 4 PM only each day with pioneering female musician Alice Gerrard. Alice, known for her long partnership with the late Hazel Dickens, will give a CD pre-release celebration for her July release Bittersweet at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC on Sunday, May 12, at 7 PM.

"Walt" on the WCHL-FM ArtSpot for May 4-5

On the WCHL ArtSpot for May 4 and 5, Art Menius welcomes the actors playing young Walt Whitman and his mother in the upcoming southeastern premier of "Walt" at The ArtsCenter along with producer-director Jeri Lynn Schulke. "Walt," written by William Whitman, will bring to life Whitman's artistic development in 19th Century America on May 10-12 and May 16-19.
