May 5 From the Roots in the Can
Saturday I completed recording the May 5 From the Roots and transmitted the same down to the capacious servers of WMMT-FM 88.7, listener supported radio from the Appalshop in downtown Whitesburg, KY. The show is scheduled to air from 11 AM until 2 PM Eastern on Saturday, May 5. Live stream here. As always lots of new roots music from Woody Pines, the Blind Owl Band, Trampled By Turtles, Atomic Duo, Bill Evans & Tim O'Brien, Elizabeth LaPrelle, Peggy Seeger, and Mariel Vandersteel. Mariel's new fiddle album inspires a set of fiddlers including John Morgan Salyer, Paul David Smith, and Marcus Martin. Plus, the late Levon Helm and band performing "The Weight" at MerleFest in 2008.
